BOSS™ Sorter Control Module

The FKI Logistex BOSS Sorter Control Module is a full-featured 100% PC-based sort control solution that combines conveyor control, data collection, system diagnostics, and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) into a single software package. All of these features are supported by a single industrial PC which reduces hardware cost, complexity and connectivity issues, and maximizes the speed of information flow throughout the system.

A sort controller based on BOSS can control a sorter at speeds up to 600 feet per minute (3 m/sec) and throughputs well over 200 cartons per minute.

Configurable Software
The proven software is re-used from one project to another. For a specific application, parameters are set to define the operation of the sorter, and there are no changes to the software that need to be checked at installation. All user selected parameters can be saved for future reference and support, and an additional back-up controller can be set-up in minutes by uploading the saved parameters.

Integral HMI (Human-Machine Interface)
Every BOSS system includes an HMI as a standard part of the control system. The interface is simple and straightforward to use while providing operators with "real-time" system status, alarms, and performance information.

The standard BOSS HMI utilizes Java screens allowing them to be viewed on any Windows PC. The HMI also includes extensive diagnostics, data collection/logging functions, and productivity monitoring tools to help keep your system running at peak performance levels. The BOSS HMI is available on any networked PC within your organization to provide information where it is needed.

Proven, easy-to-use diagnostics
A comprehensive set of diagnostics is included to automatically calibrate the sorter, verify that the calibration is correct, and check all mechanical and electrical devices on the sorter. Carton histories displaying barcode, lane destination, gapping, and disposition are recorded for the last 50,000 cartons, providing accountability for every known carton inducted onto the sorter.

The built-in sorter diagnostics, along with photo-eye tracking statistics, error and event logs, and extensive alarm messaging, provide a quick and easy method to troubleshoot sorter problems. Troubleshooting can occur locally at the site, or remotely via a modem or Virtual Private Network (VPN). All screens and diagnostic information are available to anyone who can access the network.

Remote Technical Support
The BOSS Sorter Control Module utilizes the latest factory developed sorter software and diagnostic tools. FKI Logistex technical support has worked with these diagnostic tools over many years, and is available to both end users and integrators 24 x 7 x 365. By connecting to the BOSS Sorter Control Module, an FKI Logistex technician can understand the current status of the sorter and view information regarding recent events that may have caused a problem. Accessing this detailed information allows us to solve most issues quickly and inexpensively.
