For airports and airlines seeking an early bag storage (EBS) solution, FKI Logistex offers the CrisBag™ integrated baggage tote handling and storage system. CrisBag enables the deployment of an efficient early bag storage system, allowing passenger bags to be checked in hours before flight time, stored in a high-density storage matrix and then routed to the corresponding flight during the correct make-up window.
A CrisBag early bag storage solution optimizes baggage sortation schedules to manage peak volumes and reduce labor requirements. CrisBag’s functionality goes beyond just early bag storage, however. In standalone mode, CrisBag is a unique and total baggage handling system with a rapid point-to-point transport of 7 meters per second and a 100 percent reliable track-and-trace system, as the bag stays in the same tote from check-in to discharge.
All the functional units required to build an early bag facility are fully integrated components of a CrisBag solution. During storage, baggage items remain on the trays. The highly accurate track-and-trace system ensures that their exact location is always known, and any baggage item can be removed from the storage at any time, such as in the case of re-booking.
An early bag storage system employing CrisBag is divided into a number of buffer lines. One or more of these can be allocated to baggage for targeted flights and may thus function as back up for loading positions. Combining this ability with throughput operation planning enables a reduction of baggage loading time per flight for a given loading position and a reduction in the number of required positions. Since CrisBag uses above-floor storage space, it also allows for greater facility layout flexibility than competing solutions.
